Yeah, I think ebook readers are a passing fad. Maybe a select few of the tech elite will buy them … but they will never reach critical mass like the iPod.
This is awesome. I am finally getting to the point where my old-school information management techniques aren’t sufficient. I’m trying to find good strategies for collecting info (as discussed here) and publishing my own content/online activities like links and pictures. This is one step in the right direction. Now I want to find a way to aggregate all my own stuff to push out from one feed.
1. Curiosity. I find that a willingness to ask “why” often leads to the “how”. An inquisitive mind is more likely to find real answers and do meaningful work than someone who yanks on this lever or that lever until something is done.
2. Independence of thought. Groupthink is my personal nemesis in the workplace. If you are smart, you were hired to apply those smarts to problems and add value. I think the quality of not-being-a-pushover goes a long way at the office.
Also books like “Getting to Yes” have taught me that creativity is a powerful trait. It is the people who can come up with unique ideas or solutions that can break stalemates and solve the really tough problems.
