Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat, we just prefer seeing friends and having fun after work instead of going home and cooking right away. glad to see im not the only one not doing as much as i could to eat better

You wondered if they cook, but you didn't leave an option for zero. I used to cook a lot, but I don't really cook any more. I don't really eat out much anymore either. I do grocery shop, I just buy things I don't have the cook. I'm in the midst of a burn out, so cooking is the last thing I have energy for. But when I get my energy back, I'll probably start cooking again. Also, I don't get a ton of pleasure out of cooking for one. When I'm dating someone, or have friends I see on a somewhat kinda sorta regular basis, I'm more motivated to cook.

I cook for myself about 4-5 days week. Well, probably two meals a week, I just eat the leftovers the second day. The fifth day is usually cereal :)

Some quick favs:
- Spaghetti Bolognese (make your own sauce, it's easy and rewarding)
- Brocolli and chicken risotto
- Roasted beef with carrots and potatoes
- Red Thai Chicken with Coconut rice

Can you tell I don't like veggies? :)

I cook as often as I can... I find it to be a great way of unwinding... I put some music on, turn the oven/stove on and escape into culinary paradise. I also love to cook with wine. (Sometime I put it in the food, too.)

2 to 4 days a week I know I'm not going to have time to cook, not because I work late, but because I have other activities in the evening.

It's great to prep meal, not only because you save money but also because it changes ideas. I am waiting for your recipes...

I don't, but I'd like to. My mom never really cooked (she was a single mom with two kids and a full-time job; something had to give), so I never really got a chance to learn. It's a perennial goal of mine to learn how to cook well and cheaply, but I haven't gotten there yet. The situation isn't helped by the fact that I never know if I'm going to be home for dinner. (And at least 3 times a week, I *know* I won't be.)

My husband and I tend to prep meals for the whole week on the weekend, then we just lay out the meal after work each day. Grilling is an exception, where we stop, buy groceries, and spend the evening grilling. Some of our favorite are Salted salmon on crepes, salami on rye bread, green leaf salads w/ cheese, pasta, fresh veggies, olives, hummus, pitas and during winter big pots of stew.

A.J. when you do spring for quality ingredients a couple tips I found useful are to 1) control your portion size and 2) plan two similar meals in order to use up all that fresh stuff you bought and 3) have leftovers for lunch. Each of those help keep my costs down.
