Worst Office Gaffes

One of my favorite TV shows, okay my favorite TV show is The Office on NBC. I’m convinced everyone has a Michael, Dwight and Andy in their office and consequently witnesses countless workplace embarassments, blunders and Michael Scott-style gaffes - that’s what makes the show so funny.

So today, I asked a question on Twitter (@jamiechabra) about what was the worst office gaffe/blunder folks in Twitterville had ever witnessed. (Hey NBC writers - this is the stuff dreams are made of….) A few public responses about clipping toe nails in the office (ew..and ew), a rouge manager who likened a ven diagram to a pair of breasts during a meeting and a few private emails that made me laugh at loud (I’m sworn to secrecy here though). So in the spirit of gelatinous staplers, share your favorite office prank or blunder in our comments.

And on a serious notes, here are the 5 worst mistakes to make by bankrate.com. Follow the link if you’ve already made one and need to learn how to recover.

1. Crying in the office

2. Hanky Panky

3. Making a fool out of yourself (lampshade-on-the-head style)

4. Bad-mouthing co-workers

5. Skipping the retirement plan (the bankers needed to get their message in one of these…)

oh, and one for my Office fans…

6. Fraud - but the real crime, was the beard.

LOL, the real crime was always the beard.

I can’t think of any office blunders but I was hosting a conference call a couple of weeks ago that was pretty early so I called in from home. Thinking my house was completely silent, I didn’t bother with the mute button. When I saw my co-worker later that day, he asked what the trickling sound was. Slightly embarrassed, wondering if he thought I was taking the world’s longest tinkle, I informed him the running water in the background was my fish tank.
