Context is key: Points that reveal my perspective
Brandon A tagged me in this “8 for 2008″ blog meme so I figured I had better respond. This is a bit more personal than most things on Newly Corporate but hey, it’s the weekend and we are still new so I hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about me and how my perspective was formed.
1. I was homeschooled in elementary school and middle school along with my three siblings. I loved being homeschooled and appreciate that I had such strong parents that could support it. I have been lucky enough to pick up some of their strengths and I aspire to use the foundation they gave me to the fullest extent possible in my life.
2. I enjoy every facet of technology, not for technology’s sake but, for what it can enable me to do for those around me. This passion is evidences itself from my efforts here to give my friends an online communication method to working to deliver a digg-like content management system for my company. Ok, ok here is something a little more lighthearted on the same vein, it all started when I bought a domain name back in 1999 when I was 16 and they were $75. On the site, macobsession.com (here is the archived site) a friend and I reported on Macintosh news, reviewed software (that companies sent it for free!) and recorded an internet radio show about Mac news(a Podcast before iPods existed).
3. I played lacrosse for Marquette University and now enjoy playing golf and skiing with family and friends.
4. I am a Lutheran and I share Martin Luther’s passion for beverages brewed of barley and hops. I imagine they have a place like this (see the picture to the right of a bar with 160 beers on tap) in heaven where we can grab a cold one and talk theology.
5. My junior year at Marquette I started an independent, free-market, student run newspaper called The Warrior to compete with the official paper run by the University. It is incorporated in the state of Wisconsin as a 501c3 organization and I now serve on the board of directors.
6. The first car I drove was a two-tone grey and maroon ‘92 Aerostar. Dead sexy.
7. My favorite foods are: my mom’s shrimp corn chowder, my grandmother’s stollen and steaks on the grill.
8. It can be quite dangerous to join a Henak Scrabble, Speed or 500 game. People have come very close to losing appendages in our highly competitive tournaments. Well, maybe not that bad but, we don’t give up easily
.
If any of our commentors care to share a little more about yourselves in the comments, please do. It’s a great way to increase your share of feed.
As for keeping this blog meme up, I am tagging The Office Newb, Ryan Paugh from EmployeeEvolution.com and Rebecca Thorman from Modite.com.

haha… I was so inspired by the two brandons, I finally got around to doing the 8 for 2008 on my own blog. Couple of disclosures — some of my random facts involve revolutions, Beijing and airconditioners falling on my hand. Yes, there was blood. ^_^
Thanks for sharing (and for letting me share!)

Brandon which is more competitive…a Henak family Scrabble game or one played against Allie, say after a few barley and hop treats?

@BrandonA That’s one of my Grandpa’s favorite songs.
BEER IN HEAVEN POLKA
(AKA In Heaven There Is No Beer)
In Heaven there is no beer
That’s why we drink it here
And when we’re gone from here
All our friends will be drinking all our beer
In Heaven there is no wine
Lets drink til we feel fine
And when it comes our time
All our friends will be drinking all our wine
In Heaven there is no drink
At least thats what we think
And when we go ca-plink
All our friends will be drinking all our drink
In Heaven there is no beer
That’s why we drink it here
And when we’re gone from here
All our friends will be drinking all our beer
In Heaven there is no beer
Let’s stay and Drink it here
And when our friends aren’t here
We will be drinking all their beer
@ScottyG I would have to declare that a tie, they are both quite a riot.
