I've definitely gone down the path of option #2, and my only regret is that while I've learned a lot, and it has been an amazing experience, you also run the risk of becoming a catch-all and doing anything other people don't want to do. But I would rather be a jack of all trades at this point, than stuck in a niche. =) Just came across this blog and am catching up on the posts… this is a great one.
