Acquired! Day 25
Conflict! There’s a new dynamic at the office. Technically we still report to our old bosses, but we are now being approached by the others. That’s right. The company that bought us has managers and salespeople too. And now that they’ve got a hot new commodity. There is buzz. That buzz means their customers have questions. They want answers, and I’ve got them. I am happy to answer questions, but now my boss is worried that my educational efforts will take away from time that could be spent closing deals. So I have a choice. Do I reach out to my new conquerers and make friendly, or do I do as I am told? My inclination is to reach out because I want exposure. I want to establish myself as the open communicator; the one who will answer questions and come to your aid. I want to establish a good reputation, and I want to do it early. Unfortunately, my boss doesn’t want me doing that. He promises me that he is looking out for my best interested, but talk is cheap. When I took the job they promised me a big payoff if the company went public or sold. We just sold our company and I didn’t get a dime for it … should I really be trusting them? Maybe it is time for me to start trusting myself and my instincts instead of their leadership.

I would trust yourself. Talk is cheap and many times people will just tell you what you want to hear. They only care about themselves. I would reach out to. Might as well try and play both sides… because only one side will be left standing in the end of this buy out.
