Daily Business Zen: Success is not taught

“The second handedness of the learned world is the secret of its mediocrity.” -Alfred North Whitehead

The way I see it: Success in business is most often reached by unconventional, untaught means.

Here is a more political take as well.

  1. Why are you making blanket statements about college professors and their “liberal failings” on newlycorporate? You’re drifting too far right! Pull back! Pull back!

  2. What you are reading in the comments section of this post is a trackback from another blog. There are examples on your own blog. A snippet of the post from the other blog including the link to this blog is included in the snippet. I could write a post saying the sky is green, link to one of your blog posts, and it would show up on your blog post. Now tadfad.com does not think the sky is green but, it would appear on your blog. You don’t necessarily espouse these green-sky values, nor does this blog espouse what is on another that has linked to us. Just because a political blog links to this post does not imply any opinion as such on this blog.

  3. Brandon, since you write both blogs in question I think it’s a little unfair to deny ownership of your trackbacks.

I don’t mean to cause a row, but here’s the point I’m trying to make:

Unless you are targeting only right-wing-oriented newly corporate types with this blog, I think all would benefit from a little more separation from gop3. This blog is a really great idea and there is plenty of content for it to stand on its own. No need to confuse the casual readers by cross-linking your posts with the republican stuff.

  4. I am not denying ownership of the trackback, I am merely separating the two as you graciously asked me to do. I am not attempting to confuse anyone by linking to the related post, I believe there to be multiple meanings to the quote mentioned and if the readers are interested (I specifically stated it is political) they are free to click it, they can plainly see that I am the author of both posts.

I appreciate the feedback and I will continue to be very up front about the political nature in any links I make but, I will not go so far as to delete trackbacks between posts that I feel are related just because they are political. As I stated, “Just because a political blog links to this post does not imply any opinion as such on this blog.”

I will not make political posts on this blog as it is a business blog, if there are peripheral political issues, they may merit links but, are not to be the subject of a post (as the post above is not about the peripheral political link).

  5. And according to my traffic analysis with Google analytics no one clicked it anyways, which is a much better reason not to link to political sites.

  6. Trackbacks…bringing friends together

  7. Hey no hard feelings, Tad is just giving some much needed feedback on what he thinks would be the best approach for this blog. We debated our opinions and will leave it at that. Its great to see that Tad cares enough about the blog and it’s success to let me know rather than just stop reading. A dedicated reader and a gentleman :-)
