Daily Business Zen: Lead better, know better, act better
As I began to work my way through a business reading list I will share with you in a future post, a number of quotes and thoughts hit me (as any good book inspires ones mind to consider new avenues of thought). After finishing part of the reading I thought hey, why not share some of these quotes, concepts or thoughts for further discussion amongst fellow professionals on NewlyCorporate.com? When pondering what to call this feature, I came up with Daily Business Zen as Zen is “notable for its emphasis on practice and experiential wisdom“. So without further adieu, here is the first dose of Daily Business Zen I would like to throw out into the community for comment or personal cogitation.
“Managing is largely a facilitating activity, too. Sure managers have to know alot, and they often have to make decisions based on that knowledge. But, especially in large organizations and those concerned with “knowledge work,” managers have to lead better, so that others can know better and therefore act better. They have to bring out the best in other people.” - Henry Mintzberg, Managers Not MBAs
